With phosphorus content, Copper Phosphorus brazing alloys are self-fluxing when joining copper to copper, saving money and time. However, when joining copper and copper based materials, such as brass and bronze, a proper flux should be used. Copper Phosphorus brazing alloys are divided into two groups: with and without silver. The percentage of silver and phosphorus changes the melting and flowing characteristics of the filler metal.
Copper Phosphorus brazing alloys are widely used in the air conditioning and plumbing industries. It is not recommended for ferrous or nickel based materials because the joint will become brittle.
Copper Phosphorus brazing alloys are available in wire, rod, powder, paste and preformed rings. Some alloys are also available in strip. Other forms are available upon request.
